Chief Apostle Arthur T. Jones Sr: A Legacy of Faith

Today, on his birthday, I want to honor someone whose presence helped lay the foundation of my walk with Christ, my Godfather. He was a Chief Apostle, a spiritual father, and a monumental figure in my formative years. His impact on my life and the lives of so many others is something I carry with me daily.

He played such a huge role in shaping my understanding of faith. I have vivid memories, going to dinner after church, watching him from the security corner, all the church events and activities, and even him putting together my first bike without training wheels. He was always there, not just as a leader, but as a steady, gentle presence in my life.

I remember being a little intimidated by him, not because of his size or stature, but because of the power of his anointing. Even as a child, I could feel it. I didn’t have the words for it then, but it was real. There was a weight, a presence, a force that only comes from God.

He was both lion and lamb. Loving, yet firm. Gentle, yet powerful. He had a sense of humor, carried himself with grace, and reminded me so much of Jesus Christ.

He always called us “son” or “daughter.” Growing up, I thought it was because he couldn’t remember all our names. Later I realized he truly saw us as his children. He carried a father’s heart for so many, and somehow still had the strength and capacity to be everything his own family needed him to be. That’s something only God could empower a person to do.

Recently, I had the opportunity to see both of his sons preach, and I couldn’t help but think of him. When we talk about legacy, it can seem like such an elusive concept, but I got to see it in real life. I saw him touching lives in rooms he’s never been in, impacting people he’s never met. The ministries his sons have built and continue to build upon are reaching a whole new generation.

But it doesn’t stop there. His beloved wife, my lovely Godmother, continues to carry the vision and the work they built together. She faithfully labored beside him, building and nurturing the ministry with strength, grace, and unwavering devotion. Together, they set a foundation that continues to bless many lives.

Their daughter and daughters-in-love continue that same legacy of faith and service, each in their own way, reaching hearts and touching lives with grace and power. And his sons and daughters in ministry carry the torch forward, steadily advancing the Kingdom and keeping the vision alive.

This was all possible because he said yes to God’s calling for his life. It encourages us to live with purpose and be intentional about answering the call on our lives, because it’s not just about us. His obedience to God’s call continues to leave a lasting imprint on generations to come.

So many people leave this world and all they leave behind are fond memories and grief. But he left salvation. He left the good news of the gospel. He left unforgettable teachings, influence, and legacy, one that continues to live on.

If I’m honest, I wish I would have told him more about the impact he made on me while he was still here. I pray he knew how loved and revered he was, and how his life would continue to shape generations.

His words, his teachings, and his legacy will live on forever.

And I thank God that he said yes.

Happy Heavenly Birthday !
